Desert Viking is an adventurous expedition to the majestic Sahara Desert that begins with a trip back in time to ancient villages and towns that lie in the heart of Morocco. These villages and towns contain authentic Berber castles and historic Foreign Legion outposts that now sit vacant.

Experiencing the local culture is a huge part of travelling and trying traditional food is largely connected with that cultural experience. Traditional foods are part of a country’s heritage and are strongly rooted within the memories of the local people. So to get the real desert experience you will of course also have to try the delicious local food which include among things Tagine, Pastilla and Harira.

Heritage
The region of Merzouga will surprise you by its history, culture, architecture and way of life. You will have the opportunity to visit the Ksours (berber castles) of the Ziz Valley and the traditional open-air Market of Rissani. The Ksours will surprise you with their unique medieval architecture and you will be amazed by the Oasis way of life.

Merzouga is famous for its many treasures from fossils to crystals and from the nomadic dresses and scarfs to the delicious mejhool dates. You will be delighted by the food and handicrafts that will make you feel out of place.
